CtrlTech CRAC, dehumidifier, and humidifiers

Air conditioning and its treatment are critical components of a variety of applications. Certain applications, such as telecommunications, laboratories, and datacenter server rooms, require precise temperature and humidity control.

Even at home, excessive or insufficient humidity and temperature can create an unsanitary and uncomfortable atmosphere. We offer a comprehensive line of solutions for precise temperature and humidity control. Several of these products include the following:

Air conditioning in the computer room (CRAC): Additionally, it is referred to as a Close Control Unit (CCU). CCUs provide precise temperature and humidity management, which is necessary for a variety of essential applications such as computer rooms, laboratories, and telecommunications. CCUs are available in two cooling modes: air cooled and chilled water cooled, with cool air flowing down and up.

Desiccant Dehumidifier

Desiccant dehumidifiers are used on a big scale to remove humidity. Desiccant materials (such as silica gel) adsorb a large amount of water vapour. A desiccant dehumidifier employs desiccant material in the form of a 'rotor.' This results in a large number of parallel axial air channels going through the rotor frame. Moisture is transmitted between the air and the desiccant as it flows through these pathways. Desiccant-based dehumidifiers use a continual physical adsorption process to remove moisture from the air.

Humidifier

Low humidity levels also contribute to an uncomfortable and unsanitary environment. We provide. Neptronic's self-contained steam humidifiers improve humidity by producing mineral-free, odourless, sterile steam.

Electric Duct Heater

This type of heater is frequently used to heat a space in conjunction with an HVAC system. Electrical Duct heaters manufactured by Neptronic are available from us. Heater coils can be open, tubular, or finned tubular. Slip-In, flanged, or round collar mounting options are available. These heaters are available in capacities ranging from 1000 kW to 40 kW per square foot to suit any purpose.

FAQs

It is critical to understand the key components of a computer room air conditioning unit, including mechanical items, refrigerants, air filters, compressors, and evaporator coils.

Items of mechanical construction

These components are used in conjunction with the CRAC unit type. However, if the unit is equipped with a belt, it is critical to adjust the tension.

All factory parameters and belt stretches should be kept in good condition.

If not addressed properly, both excessive and insufficient tension result in decreased performance.

Additionally, it is critical to inspect the pulley set screws and mounts for tightness.

Mechanical systems that are clean and well-maintained perform better and last longer.

Refrigerant

The refrigerant levels in CRAC units must be checked at least once a year. If refrigerant levels begin to drop, this may indicate a leak.

Such flaws should be identified and corrected immediately. Regular checks of proportional valves should be conducted on chilled water type units to ensure proper operation and control.

Filters for the air

Air filters are a critical component of CRAC unit maintenance because they ensure the unit's performance.

They should be clean, as dirty ones can cause the motors to work harder and reduce cooling capacity.

If the intensity of dirty filters is high, the source should be immediately identified.

Accumulation of particulates on the filters and heat sinks of computing hardware may result in an increase in internal temperature.

Compressors

Any CRAC unit's compressors should be inspected for leaks in addition to the oil levels.

This is because excessive or insufficient oil can shorten the service life.

It is recommended that you use the oil recommended by the manufacturer.

Coils of the evaporator

These coils must be kept free of debris and clean.

This will ensure the CRAC unit's proper operation and performance.

Electrical examinations

A functioning CRAC unit does not imply that all is well. Each unit should keep records of the current drawn by various components.

Additionally, the motor's revolutions per minute should be noted. Any changes in the rpm and current trends indicate the presence of a developing problem.

This may necessitate an in-depth investigation to determine the source of the problem.

Additionally, power readings should always be taken after inspecting the electrical components for firmness.

Due to clamp-on metres, the wires can move. This results in a loose connection, which results in the data centre being shut down.

As a result, the power connections to the air conditioning unit should be scanned and checked as well.

Even in the distant past, computers, storage devices, and mainframes generated considerable heat during operation. And modern systems are more powerful, faster, power-hungry, and intense than ever before. Even at low operating levels, towers and storage decks can reach absurdly high temperatures, which is a problem in and of itself for the comfort of those who work in these areas.

However, the true danger comes from the impact of this heat on your vital equipment. High heat levels put your equipment in grave danger, posing a threat to hardware and software at worst, but even at best, heat can significantly reduce system efficiency and performance.

While these systems are frequently equipped with cooling systems, they are typically designed to service a single unit within an adequate amount of space. This is not how most computer rooms are configured, and each additional machine significantly increases the temperature. This is why computer room-specific air conditioning systems are critical! Standard structure-wide cooling systems cannot be relied upon to protect your investment because they do not meet your needs.

A computer room air conditioning (CRAC) unit is a piece of equipment that monitors and maintains the temperature, air distribution, and humidity levels in a network room or data centre. CRAC units have largely supplanted air-conditioning units previously used to cool data centres. According to Industrial Market Trends, mainframes and racks of servers can reach temperatures comparable to a seven-foot tower of powered toaster ovens, making climate control a critical component of the data center's infrastructure.

CRAC units can be located in a variety of configurations. One successful CRAC configuration is the process of cooling air and dispensing it through an elevated floor. The perforated sections allow the air to rise, forming cold aisles. The cold air circulates through the racks, absorbing heat along the way before exiting through the rear of the racks. The warm exit air creates hot aisles behind the racks, and the hot air is directed back to the CRAC intakes located above the floor.

How does your office's air feel? Are you constantly surrounded by computers? If your response to our previous question was "stuffy" or "warm," and there are computers nearby, that is not an acceptable response. Why? Because without proper ventilation, a variety of issues may arise.

“But that's not a cause for concern,” you're probably thinking. “Every day, I turn off my computer.” That is not a wise way to think, however! Here are some compelling reasons why your computer room does indeed require ventilation.

The first reason is the heat.

When a computer is constantly on, it generates heat. Many computers now include an integrated fan to keep the internal mechanics cool, but additional ventilation can help limit the amount of heat generated by the machine over time.

The larger the computer, the more heat it produces. This is why data centre operators will invariably require ventilation as well. Therefore, if you own a business or work from a computer, cool air flow is critical, not only for your comfort but also for the comfort of your employees. After all, those computers contain the most critical information for your business and daily life! If you rely heavily on electronics as a hobby or for remote work, you want them to last as long as possible. The solution is to install ventilation.

Dust is the second reason.

The disadvantage of having so many electronics in one location is that dust accumulates more quickly than usual. If left alone, those dust bunnies can spell disaster! Allowing dust and dirt to accumulate for an extended period of time can result in a variety of problems, the most serious of which is overheating.

Humidity is the third reason.

Along with dust, humidity levels in a computer room can contribute to overheating. Condensation, when combined with dust, can occur if you quickly move the computer from an extremely cold environment to a humid indoor environment. The most effective method of reducing humidity levels is—you guessed it—ventilation.

Desiccant dehumidifiers make use of a desiccant material, typically Zeolite, that absorbs water vapour from the air in a manner similar to silica gel. A fan draws air into the dehumidifier and directs it through a section of a slowly rotating wheel containing desiccant to dry the air. The moisture in the desiccant is extracted by heating a section of the wheel that is not being used to dry the air. All desiccant units are rated at 60% humidity (vs. 80% for compressor units) and 30 degrees centigrade temperature.

They will extract the same amount of moisture regardless of the temperature. A desiccant unit has no consumables: the desiccant material does not expire and therefore does not need to be replaced or topped up.

A desiccant unit's lifespan is typically longer than that of a compressor unit because it is a much simpler process with fewer moving parts, no compressor, and no refrigerant gas held under high pressure to fail.

Desiccant dehumidifiers are typically more compact, lighter, and quieter than compressor units.

While compressor dehumidifiers perform best at higher temperatures (greater than 20 degrees celsius), desiccant units extract the same amount of moisture at any temperature between one and twenty degrees celsius. Desiccant units are extremely durable and effective at extracting moisture in virtually any situation.

While a desiccant unit consumes more energy per hour than a compressor unit, it is significantly more effective at extracting moisture and achieves a better result in a shorter amount of time.

For instance, at a normal room temperature of 21 degrees, a 7 litre per day extraction desiccant (power consumption 660 watts per hour) extracts more moisture in an hour than a 20 litre per day extraction compressor driven unit (power consumption 370 watts per hour) extracts in one and a half hours.

At an average domestic rate of ten pence per kilowatt hour, the desiccant unit costs 6.6 pence, while the compressor unit costs 5.6 pence. However, at cooler temperatures, the compressor unit will work slower and thus cost more to accomplish the same task.

Consider using an aroma diffuser to deodorise while you dehumidify. Add a few drops of essential oil to the water reservoir and your space will be filled with a soothing scent.

For other humidifier types, consult your owner's manual to determine whether they are compatible with essential oils.

Cleaning your humidifier on a regular basis is critical to ensuring that it produces clean, healthy moisture. Without routine maintenance, your humidifier can quickly become a breeding ground for allergens and bacteria that can be released into the air.

When Should Your Humidifier Be Cleaned

We recommend thoroughly cleaning the water tank of your humidifier every few days with a soft-bristled brush and a mild cleanser.

Cleaning Your Humidifier

Thoroughly rinse it and allow all components to dry before refilling with fresh water and turning it on. Additionally, wipe the exterior clean with a damp cloth. Read our blog post on How To Clean A Humidifier for additional information.

Duct heaters are the component of your HVAC system that pre-heats the air before it is distributed throughout your property's rooms. Electrical duct heaters are the most common type. They generate heat as an electric current passes through resistance (coils). The air passing through absorbs the heat from the coils and is then pushed into your rooms via the ductwork. Electric duct heaters installed inline can be used for space, supplemental, or primary heating.

Apart from the heating coils, electrical duct heaters include a few additional features. They can be programmed to heat the air only during certain times of the day or when temperatures fall below a predetermined level. The optimal temperature could be maintained by automatically switching heaters on and off in response to climate control system readings. As a result, inline electric heaters are extremely energy efficient.

Additionally, these devices include a set of switches for added security. After the maximum temperature is reached, the first switch automatically turns off the heater. The second is a manual switch that can be used to turn off the heaters in the event of an automatic system malfunction. Simpler models consist of a series of stages. Each stage consumes more energy in order to generate additional heat. Typically, there are three stages.

There are several types of duct heaters available on the market:

  1. Electric round duct heaters;
  2. Rectangular duct heaters;
  3. Industrial duct heaters;
  4. Standard & Custom duct heaters;
  5. Explosion-proof heaters – designed for use in hazardous areas.

Installation

These devices can be deployed in a variety of locations, including office buildings, schools, manufacturing facilities, and power plants. Installation and replacement of duct heaters are extremely simple. Mounting can be accomplished in either direction by connecting a regular spigot to spiral ducting. Electric in-line duct heaters should always be fitted with the unit's safety cutouts on the top.

*Be cautious while selecting a duct heater replacement. Because these devices are standardised in terms of size, wattage, and current, it is critical to have the same model or at the very least one with the same specs.

The Function of Duct Heaters

Duct heaters are an excellent technique to maintain varied temperatures in rooms or even distinct areas. They are simple to install and keep in good condition. This, paired with their energy economy, explains why those devices have a wide range of applications. Regular maintenance is critical. If you have a heating element, you should inspect it frequently. At the very least prior to each winter season for residential properties.

Applications:

  1. Initially heated;
  2. supplementary heating;
  3. Heating in enclosed spaces;
  4. Reheating;
  5. Multi-zone and VAV heating systems are available.

No, cool mist humidifiers do not increase the room's temperature. Indeed, it will make you feel slightly warmer, as excessive humidity can hinder sweating and cause the body to retain heat. Whether ultrasonic or evaporative, its primary purpose is to disseminate moisture throughout the area and raise the relative humidity level. Instead of relying on a humidifier to cool the space, a fan or an air conditioner would be a far more effective instrument.

Ducted heating is a very common type of heating system that warms the entire house. Ducted central heating works by drawing air into your home via a return air grille and passing it through a heat exchanger warmed by gas combustion.

Once heated by the main unit, the air is pushed into the home via ducts and a series of vents in the ceiling or floor.

Here are five compelling reasons to switch to ducted heating immediately.

#1 – COMFORT FOR THE WHOLE HOUSE

Ducted systems can be installed in new construction or customised to fit an existing structure. They are comprised solely of an indoor unit (in the ceiling) or an outdoor unit (outside or beneath the floor), as well as flexible ducting. Once installed, you'll be able to customise the level of comfort throughout your home from a single control panel, providing comfort and warmth wherever they're needed.

#2 – EFFORT

With the majority of manufacturers of gas ducted heating producing highly efficient 4, 5, 6, and now even 7 star heaters, the cost of operating a ducted heating system has decreased significantly without sacrificing heat output.

#3 – AN EVEN DISTRIBUTION OF AIR

Once heated, the air is pushed through ducts and into the home via a series of ceiling or floor vents. This ensures that warm air is distributed evenly throughout the home, eliminating cold spots.

#4 – SIMPLICITY OF CONTROL

Ducted heating systems are controlled centrally via a control panel located in one of your home's main rooms. This means that you can adjust the temperature in your home by pressing a button on the control panel.

Additionally, control panels can be zoned, allowing you to easily specify which rooms you want to heat and which you don't

#5 – APPEALING FROM AN AESTHETIC POINT OF VIEW

Due to the fact that ducted heating systems are concealed behind unobtrusive grilles mounted in the ceiling or floor, they do not detract from the overall appearance of your home. Additionally, ducted heating is one of the quietest heating systems available.
